Subterráneos de Buenos Aires S.E.
There are currently 2,800,000 inhabitants in Buenos Aires, spread over an area of 203 km2. In addition, it receives more than 10 million residents of the metropolitan area. This implies lots of travelling throughout the city, half of which are made through the public transport system. Throughout its 53.7 km network, the subway daily carries more than 1,400,000 passengers. The remaining trips are channelled through the Automotive Transport System Passenger.
The mission of Subterráneos de Buenos Aires S.E. (SBASE) is to have a wider network to revitalize the core areas of our city, becoming one of the engines of economic recovery in various sectors of the city and facilitating access to the service to residents of areas less connected.
Since the enactment of the 2710 Act, the plan is to expand the network of the subway by incorporating to current trace the F, G, H and I lines. This will add 39.3 km of subway distributed in 56 new stations. It is estimated that with the expansion of the network, 1,100,000 more passengers will be able to access this public service. This means that 57% of the total residents of the city will use this transport to move within its network.
